Before I visited Bratislava, I expected a city like Prague since they are so close to each other I would not expect them to be so different!
They have restaurants, cafes and pubs at the bottom floor of old and colorful buildings. However, maybe because of the time I visited (the end of April), I do not know, but they were closing cafes and everything so early in the night unlike Prague.
But in daylight, Bratislava is much more fun as far as I experienced. There was not a large influx of tourists thus it was quiet and calm most of the time. Old people sitting on a bench soaking up the beautiful spring weather, nobody rushing to somewhere, couples eating slowly their lunches… and there was a street musician who play 6 or 7 instruments at the same time!
Do not be surprised to see a man peeking out from under a manhole cover! This sculpture was made by Viktor Hulk and his name is Čumil, meaning literally “the watcher”. There is a speculation about what he is watching though 🙂
The White Castle of Bratislava is definitely worth visiting, it has an amazing view over the city. I do not have any decent photos from there because they are full of my silly poses. Lol. The city is also perfect to try local cuisine and culture, if you want to taste some Central Europe air.
What do you think about Bratislava? Did you find nice pubs or resturants? I waiting for your recommendations since I am thinking to visit it again!
